hehe... depend on interest bro...
for me, MotoGP is fantastic cause i'm a fan...
well not everyone can appreciate such thing. i've been there almost ever year since 2003, except for 2006 due to IMF deployment.
i personally felt that there is nothing fantastic about soccer,EPL... but there are thousands of others who really fanatic abt the ballgame... and riot can start just because of a game...

Just wanna hear some feedback
How much more "burden" since you change from 2 wheeler to 4 wheeler
Some might be OPC, Some might be Normal plate.
Just wana know how life goes on .......
Some cost estimation might be helpful....

Me, ride to work coz parking & ERP will be a killer @ my office...
The cost alone can almost get me an OPC liow.
But my ride is not ex coz second hand...
Finished paying the loan though...
So, only need to support the insurance and road tax which is about 1k + for 1 year.
joepele- Senior Member
Re: Current Bikers, Ex-bikers, Future-bikers, Thought of being a
i guess normal plate expenditure is more than OPC...
mine OPC, prefer to ride due to 'easy parking',
less affected by peak period, travelling time by bike from my place at b.batok to loyang during peak period via PIE is 25min... by car is 45mins... and also my workplace car need to pay $80 season parking... bike FOC... hehe
burden wise, i guess is the additional season parking i need to pay, and extra fuel consumed per KM...
i guess the most affected is the full conversion from 2 wheeler to 4 wheeler.

1st time owning a car (even if its a weekend car) insurance is quite high (insurance is non avoidable)
installment of a OPC car, $200 ~ $300 per month ? (normal plate $400 ~ $500 per month)
take it that insurance about 1.2k per year (which is the lowest estmate)
per month for insurance is 1.2k / 12 mths = $100
monthly payable $200 ~ $300 + $100 = $300 ~ $400
on top of that your car MSCP parking about $70 ~ $90 ?
monthly payable $300 ~ $400 + $90 = $390 ~ $490 <-- die die have to pay
(The above is EXCLUDING the petrol + outside parking and neglible Road Tax)
anyone wana revise on my prices feel free to do so
i can say that the burden from a 2 wheeler to a 4 wheeler is x2 or x3 ?
just my 2cents
BUT, everything will be different once you have a family and kids especially. but then again, i have seen whole familes with kids went out in cabs or even bus and mrt spending more quality time together

From a 2 wheel to 4 wheel... it's about 5 x for me I feel...
Coz maybe cos I dun have any outstanding loan for my bike?
Parking is much cheaper like you mentioned... but excluding the parking @ my office...
But have tried taking a bus from my office to home... 1hr - 1hr 30mins...
Bike... 30 mins or less....
Time saved to spend more QT with my kids are def worth it.
Also, after working hours.... be the time I reach home... is 6-630pm... take a shower... get the kids ready... 7+pm liow... juz nice... OPC is the way to go for family guys like me.

Anyway, IMHO anyway, can never replace the feeling of being on an open road with your trusted machine.
Not sure abt the rest of the bikers here...
One of the way that I relax is...
Riding down NSHW @ XXXkm/h early on Sat morn (Coz no road blocks) to my granny's in Keluang (aprox 150km) for a nice Dim Sum breakfast and make it back by noon time to help my wife with the kids.
And once you have rode on an ST11... you'll know what you've been missing out "touring" on a bike.
8.5hrs to Thailand Boarder...

Bro Juan, sorry man, mom's can give in, WIFES cannot. And you got a daughter liao.. Gotta take a license before the commitment, cos now you got a car, you won't wanna ride as much.. Zeed wrote:want to take bike license. Only 1 problem.....MY MOM. How u all overcome this ah?
normally you cant overcome it. they have their good intention.
for me, the main factor why i took a bike licence is becaused i have decided to take night classes at NUS which start at 6pm. at that time i knock off at 5.30pm, so the only way to get to school in time is having my own transport.
although my parents refused to accept my reason, I still went ahead to take my licence behind their backs, but sooner or later they found out, and they will nag and nag and nag after a while, the nagging dies down and they will accept it, human nature lah haaha
Note : I am not encouraging you to do things behind your parents back !
