Human endeavour has always been highlighted with competitions to be the best. The best in class, the executive who brought in the biggest clients, the fastest Formula 1 car - the Guinness Book of Records grows daily.
Those who are the best are the ones who write history and construct society. And while doing so, we sometimes forget those we leave behind. This race brings together the best to aid those whose chances are diminished.
Because to be compassionate is also to be human.

Aero vs Auto is an event organized by Quotient TravelPlanner to raise funds for Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home. Funds raised will go towards a new Learning Centre for the children, as well as to providing shelter, education, meals and learning facilities for the children. All partners involved have volunteered their resources and expertise in their field to make this race possible.

How The Race is Done...

Race Day: 28 March 2010

The race will start at 9.30am from Subang Jaya, Malaysia. Awaiting their arrival in Singapore will be the children from Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home, volunteers and invited guests.

The impression most people get when they think plane vs car is that a car cannot be as quick. But in reality a plane is slowed in a number of areas.

The race starts at Subang Jaya. While team Auto can depart at maximum speed towards the highway to Singapore, team Aero must make a slow detour to Subang Jaya Airport.

At the Airport, team Aero further subject to customs inspections, pre-flight checks and waiting for runway clearance.
By the time team Aero takes off about 45 minutes later at best, team Auto is already nearly one-third on the way to Singapore.

But team Aero is on average much faster than team Auto. Flying at a constant 300 km/h, they will catch team Auto by about three-quarters of the distance to Singapore.

Team Auto will also be caught in immigration by the time Team Aero lands in Seletar Airport. And immigration is slow…
However team Aero at this point has to undergo another customs and immigration check. For them at a private aviation airport, this won’t take long. However what will slow them is the circuitous journey out of Seletar Airport and possible jams on the Central Expressway.

While the moment team Auto clears Johor immigration, they have a clear and direct path to the end point in MINI Habitat. Too close for anyone’s guess..
