Post by omg2doors 27th October 2009, 8:47 pm

After previous experience of modding my car - suspension, IHE, tuning, rims, I've realised I've wasted a lot of $ but at the end of the day, though car become slightly more fun to drive, the amount spend is not justifiable..plus my family isn't too happy about my car modding.

So...

What things can fellow bros say to encourage me to stay stock for performance when i get my Koup? I intend to do some minor aesthetic mods..but don't want to make it sporty..because then I will be pressured to make it perform sporty too.. The 'Why stock is best' thread. Icon_rolleyes

Save $$$.

That is the ONE thing I keep telling myself.

Minor aesthetic mods I will do. But performance mods? Nah. Didnt really increase the bhp. Anyway even if you could increase, the difference will be not very significant unless you are really willing to go full out modding, which I rather you save the money and get a better car.

For NA car, don't bother with performance mods. Your gain will not be significant unless you willing to go all the way with supercharger or turbo charger. Save your money and buy nice dinner for your family.

I wouldn't describe the Koup in that manner. It is an honest car, it never pretend to be something that it is not. No special emblem to say it is sport or fast or "race me".

the more you modify, the poorer you will get. if you want something powerful, go for TC, SC, exhaust, straight-pipe, mid-pipe, BBTB, extractor, whatever. getting small things like a V.S don't get you anywhere faster. want better FC? turn off the air-con and it's for free or get a set of low-rolling resistance tyres (eg. Michelin) trust me, i have been cheated before. now experienced. The 'Why stock is best' thread. Icon_biggrin

Why did you buy the car in the first place?

I don't see the need to add this or mod that....

I buy it for what it is.......if you don't like what it is....you just make a wrong buy.

The rest of the money stays where it is.....for other good use....

The mods, my personal view only, is like what some people tries to sell to old folks to cure ailments...they called it the magic stone.

Our stock Forte is basically very equipped liao...
Dunno if you can consider the following "mod"...

These are things which i deem necessary and added them:
1. Solar Film - For a cooler ride; Prevent sunburn during sunny days;
2. Paint Protection - Hopefully can retain the whiteness longer
3. Basic 1-Way Car Alarm - Hopefully got deterrence effect

For vanity:
1. Forte red LED scuff-plate - Think its nice... Still like it very much!
2. White LED boot-light - Goes with the white body... Also easier to find things...
3. Car flip-key - Like the compactness and convenience
4. Retro K-Emblem - Pure vanity! LOL... The 'Why stock is best' thread. Icon_razz

For performance:
1. Voltage stablizer & grounding - Believe steady voltage is good for d.c. electrical circuits, esp auto car

Still considering getting:
1. GPS - Prevent "Hollan"
2. K&N filter - For performance?
3. White light for headlight - Goes with white body; can see further?
4. White led for cabin and map light - easier to see

actually all these add up to quite a lot oso...
i always call my car "VAIN"... *haiz*

As long as it does not touch on your car performance and outlook of the car, it does not consider mod.

i don't think he was asking for definition of what is mod or not.. how is it of any help to him?

oh anyway..why is white headlights not consider mod in your defintion? cos it's LTA approved?

Aftermarket white headlights are road legal but NOT LTA approved. Inspection still have to change back stock bulb.

I'm not joking. I dun like to mod my car performance at all. If I want high performance car, will rather save the money for high-end car. The reason why I install 5-in-1 is because it does not modify as it is only add-on and also I just one to find out the results. Good or no good, I dun want to comments anymore and dun wana get shoot again.

Mind is not totally white, it's abit of yellowish white. No matter how, will try my luck during inspection time and if cannot, the most I replace it back to the stock one.

mod is aesthetic?

then i did one $256 mod by CS-II, haha.

i self control even though the car will look nicer n stuff, but if i sell, i don't see the mod to jack up my car price or what. like alot of smaller gadgets (mobile phones), after mod this and that, when i sell, no diff from original set selling price.

thats what i think. purely personal opinion. The 'Why stock is best' thread. 332362

then i did one $256 mod by CS-II, haha.

i self control even though the car will look nicer n stuff, but if i sell, i don't see the mod to jack up my car price or what. like alot of smaller gadgets (mobile phones), after mod this and that, when i sell, no diff from original set selling price.

thats what i think. purely personal opinion. The 'Why stock is best' thread. 332362

personally, i only did aesthetic changes and i did it only for myself... to give myself a reward .... when ppl like it , i consider it a bonus ... i dont expect it to affect the selling price.... The 'Why stock is best' thread. Icon_smile

I travelled from Pasir Ris to Woodlands last night via the PIE/BKE with the fc meter reset to zero before I started out.

Tried to use the qing-gong method and got a 6.0l/100km from car park to car park.

Traffic was moderate and I tried to maintain speed at 80km/h and 90km/h. I realised with the instance FC meter, I can get a good constant speed of slightly above 80km/h with 5l.100km to the pedal. Can get leg cramp doing this because the pressure applied is so slight.

My car is stock!!!!

There's a question always on my mind regarding additional 5pt/6pt grounding. If it does improve the electricals, why it's not factory-fitted? The cost of the cables are not that expensive. Question
