Re: Smelly air-conditioning system
The problem could b due to the type of air fresher used. This normally happened when using those fresher than clip on to the air-con vent. Try remove it for 1-2 weeks and see if the foul smell still exist.

Re: Smelly air-conditioning system
Try to prevent eating inside the car. Also sometimes if pack food and bring into the car can also cause those bad smell to build up over the time. Worst is Durian.
Don't think of those Air freshener... it can get worst.
I don't think go C&C they can do anything. Unless they wan to remove the whole cooling coil and clean it.
Try bake the car under the hot sun for while till the inner cabin is really very hot. Then start the car and turn on the fun with full blast without the A/C (AirCon) on to let it run for about 10mins. With this... it should help. But no g'teed the smell will not come back again. Also try to install air-con filter with carbon type.
Worst to worst if all method tried and still cannot help. Then the best way is to get expert to take out the cooling coil and do some cleaning liao.

Re: Smelly air-conditioning system
Get an Ozone or -ve ion air purifier lor...
But with this... also means... no need to put air fresheners too... coz will neutralize the smell too.

Re: Smelly air-conditioning system
bro, it will neutralize the smell no doubt, but the problem still exists, the filter has to be changed, once it is done, don't mix scents, better still don't put air fresheners. i've had this problem before on my forte, after changing the filter, problem solved. =D

maybe the mould is inside . Try to go c & c and do a air con treatment 3 in 1 can solve the problem.

Re: Smelly air-conditioning system
Yup i have experienced exactly the same thing. Its due to the .... AIR FRESHNER (those water types).
This was the remedy
1) get rid of the air freshner.
2) on the heater for about 5 mins while driving. max fan and heat. do this for about 2 times a day for 3 days.
3) get an ionizer. 30+ dollars one. its a good investment
4) get those charcoal or dry air freshner. daiso 2 dollars one can do.
the smell should totally dissapear after about 3days to a week. serious
initially i thought it was the type of air freshner i bought. so i changed to other brands but still the same smell. I researched over the net and found out that those water types actually vaporise and will cling on to the air con system causing moulds. so blasting it with 5 mins of heat actually kills them.

here is what i do. i went to daiso and buy 3 packs of the charcoal deodarant. place 2 in front and 1 at the back. for the next 3 days, use the outside air function of the air con. do not use the recirculation function.
by the 4th day , the smell should be gone.
total cost? only $6.

Re: Smelly air-conditioning system
pardon me about the terms.
- make sure the aircon circulation is the "reversing" mode/yellow light; the green light one is the "one-way" mode. these buttons are just below rear heater button.
- the aircon mode should "blow your face, and blow your feet". just toggle the mode until u reach these two arrows.
there shouldn't be any smell from the aircon.
still loving my 5-mth old cerato...
