Cyclist rule the road Empty Cyclist rule the road

Post by aural 23rd March 2010, 12:13 pm

Had to many encounters with cyclists who feel they own the road the cycle as if they have their own set of rules on the road. Yesterday I almost got into an accident because one cyclist decide to cut a bus by the right and suddenly the bus moved and he just swerve to the centre of the middle lane. As I was moving on the 2nd, I also had to swerve to avoid hitting him and almost got hit by a car and the 3rd lane.

I think there has been talks on cyclists and road users to co-exist. I beleve in that too but i think they want to cycle on road, they should at least have a basic theory on road courtesy. Afterall in my above incident, if u hit him, I'll be liable or if I killed him, I'll also be guilty of something though he should not be so near the bus. We can hardly see motorbikes with their headlight sometimes let alone the bicycles without any headlights.

Yes..Agree with you..Hope the authority side look in to it..

as now a days getting more and more bicycle on the road without proper equipment. I dont think most of them know the rules on road.

Authority Must enforce taking license if they want to be on the road.

As Singapore always talk about safety first.

if some situation occurs that your car is damaged because of a bicycle. You have no choice but to claim OD then file a lawsuit against the cyclist. Maybe by then the person fly off to their homeland if they are a foreigner. Declare bankrupt in sg and give you the bicycle. =x

probably the bus could not see the bicycle and moved off and in doing so steered away from the kerb.

Along Nicole highway also alot of such incidents. Saw many cyclist on the highway and sometimes side by side chatting leading to many vehicles weaving in and out the left lane to avoid them. And no lights or deflecters at night somemore. mad

Bicycles are not allowed on the expressways.

However, I have seen "chinese" cycling on the expressways before.
