Problems/Enquiries/Concerns encounter for FORTE

I tried it out this morning on my way to work, with radio/CD off. I couldn't hear anything coming from the steering wheel leh. Hmm.. looks like not all cars will have this problem.

Wow... This is not a good news for me. My KCF is only 2 weeks old. Hope he will not give me the scary steering noise after a few weeks later...

but this noise only bother me in the morning when my aircon and audio is off and when steering my car out of car park area....once on the road and with aircon and audio sw on.......dun remember hearing it again....

for my case, e clock spring was changed, but sound came back few days later.. aft dat went for lubrication, but sound came back again few days later.. but these few day got no more sound when turning e steering wheel..

will continue to monitor... hopefully e sound dun come back anymore..

Will be registering the following findings with CnC for my 5K servicing tomorrow :

1. Steering noise
2. Knocking sound when going over hump
3. Adjust Handbrake
4. Loose Passenger side seat belt mounting
5. Off centred refuelling panel (gap not equal)

All minor findings.......

For my 5K servicing, i will highlight the following problems:-

1) Knock sound when going over hump
2) Rattling sound at the front (think like loose fittings)
3) Boot lever hard to pull to open boot
4) Tension handbrake

The gap surrounding the circular fuel panel is not uniform. Can be adjust.

i'm putting my ride for 5k servicing tmr too. did they tell u u need to put it down for a day for the jobs u mentioned?

For my 5K servicing, i will highlight the following problems:-

1) The car is a HKS fan.
2) Rattling sound when steering wheel is turned

Membership of the HKS club will keep rising cos even those who took delivery recently also have the prob. CnC techs are going to have to work overtime to rectify the prob.

As for the SDW club, it seems like no. of new members are trailing off. No more new members these few days...... or akan datang? Touch wood, me end up checking the windscreen every time I get into the car. If this is not paranoia, what is........

Anyone knows whether there is any facelift for forte since it launch in spore until now? I just heard from a friend that there is but dunno where he got the source from....just wanna clarify

Logically, having a facelift for a just release car is an economically
crazy move. Either Kia got no brain or ur friend haven't got one. Maybe u ain't got one too for not thinking for urself or most likely I ain't got one also coz I m typing this. Sorry

SDW is pretty freakish tbh...I hope it's only a batch issue instead of a genuine design flaw.

but since this thread is for Problems/Enquiries...so why not just post this enquiry to all forte experts in this forum. No harm to check from different sources anyway...

facelift will launch when the 1 version is about 2-3 or even 4 yrs old.

Wow.. i read through the pages and realised that even new forte got so many problems??

Could the problems be due to the rush production to meet the rising demand, resulting in poor/low quality cars? Or because new model cars always will have problems in the first few batches?

But why dont Kia head quarter test properly the cars before releasing to the market? if they anyhow manufacture the fortes and give customers problems, wont it spoilt their own brand image??

I rather they slowly manufacture the forte and ensure they are problem free, before exporting to other countries... I even saw some of you mentioning the wind screen will crack by itself..

Any new model just made / created will have problems on the first batch.

standard de. thats y the warranty is super important.

They recall ur car and solve the problem for u free.

Finished my 5 K servicing this morning, paid $50+.

Update on findings :

1. Steering noise << Lubrication carried out - no more noise for now>>
2. Knocking sound when going over hump << need to waiting for spare from KR>>
3. Adjust Handbrake << adjusted and tight now>>
4. Loose Passenger side seat belt mounting << took them a while to tighten the mounting bolt due to poor access, now no more rattling noise. Probably not properly tighten after the fitment of leather seat job >>
5. Off centred refuelling panel (gap not equal)<< adjusted -now panel swee swee right in the centre>>

The hump knock sound is most probably caused by the sub-standard parts supplied by Kia's sub-contractors. Kia's fault is in not ensuring that the parts are of good quality.

As for the self-destruct windscreens, the windscreens used may of of poor quality or they may not have been fitted properly. Another possible cause could be the very high tire pressures with the compliments of CnC.

me bought the new model Toyota Corolla in 2000 ( not the thai made Altis) it was the first batch of the new model corolla from Japan.....however after the first few months, the clutch started to made squeaking sound whenever I depress it.....went back to agent for checks and they confirmed that it was due to lack of lubrication on the clutch cable but I'll have to pay for the work done ($35) cause lubrication is not covered under warranty.........later I found that my friend's car (same model) also has the same problem during the first few months....

Quality issues relating to newly launched cars are common......even for the famous for reliability brand hor...

Went for my 1k servicing.. Was extremetly disappointed.. It seem to be after service, my car become to have more nusiance noises where i still trying to find ways to simulate and locate them... Hecks zzzz.. In fact come out of their service center... Got two small chips off paint..

Ask the person in charge to come over and take a look.. Ask him to explain to me what is these... He see here see there and tell me, Sir i go get my service guys come over to try polish off.. Then 3 guys come, try polish off.. Verdict is can't... Person-in charge tell me, sir i believe is stone chip that cause this..

So i wonder do i look stupid to him... Me 10am send in my car to them and before i send, i got do two times check overall my car surface.. 1st at home, 2nd at service... 5pm they tell me i ready to collect my car.. so went back to collect.. found these two defects under a blazing hot sun.. I SO MAD..

nope.. i did ask that question too if i let my car go thru spray.

with regards to the steering creaking sound, windscreen cracked, suspension knock sound, etc..I have written in to Kia Global and they have acknowledged it and CnC also replied, hopefully they can offer a solution...

Back to the steering sound, for my case, I was trying to locate where the sound actually comes from, seem to me it's not the clock spring but the airbag module sitting in the steering hub..in service manual they refer as DAB...will ask them to try remove the DAB and turn the steering wheel, if no sound occur, confirm is the DAB rather than the clock spring....

juz found out this problem wif my alarm .
previously i lock the doors wif my alarm .
after using my keys to open . BY RIGHT it'll sound the horn as alarm .
now .. pffttt the alarm horn doesn't work -__-'''

I have found out the problem causing the sound from steering...it's not the clock spring but the DAB (Driver Airbag module), improper fitment causes the sound....

ya, but recommend not to do that bcos initially I also scare scare becos last time my ride no Airbag, happy happy I change steering wheel bcos mine installed with a modular adaptor...this time round also scare abit, imagine snap the cables or ...let me send back to wkshop and confirm it's the root cause before u guys thinking of doing any DIY...

I suppose the alarm should sound off. I planned to test my alarm today and see whether it works.

i tot the stock got no alarm

I think stock no alarm more like auto lock/unlock function....EX have aftermarket alarm install....

dun worry bro your se must be there to hand over the car to you.
make sure u check the paintwork carefully and if (touchwood) got scratches, ask your se to write down onto your collection form and sign so that C&C will rectify during servicing.

wow bro pls be very careful with the airbag mechanism. i watched on discovery channel that the explosive activation achieived by the airbag is possible cos they actually use explosive tablets (something like small bombs).
