Must be something wrong with your disc-brake or brake pad is loose. Better go check for safety wise.

Oh yah.. not sure who encountered this where i notice that after i jammed brake, the car doesn't seem to really pick up speed (even on flat ground). I tried to step more on the accelerator oso no use. The car refused to go beyond 100km/hr.. it took quite long to pick up and run again.. will only be faster when u move down the slope.. made me so jittery when there were cars tailgating on the highway.. aiyo...

Problems/Enquiries/Concerns encounter for FORTE - Page 2 Empty Re: Problems/Enquiries/Concerns encounter for FORTE

Post by greatgazoo 13th April 2009, 12:46 am

Hi guys out there, is this a norm that all brands of automatic cars has this problem of picking up speed on slope?

I do know that manual don't have this problem becos they can drag their rpm to the max before gear change. However, auto does'nt work this way, change of gear is pre-set at a definate rpm, and the moment gear is change, rpm will drop causing the car to slowly pick up the speed for that gear. Is there a way to solve this?

Overdrive, or some cars they have like D1, D2 etc etc for slope.

With the sportronic, u can juz switch it on, U will drop a gear automatically and then u can rev it up then shift up gear when u feel enough.

Red = danger

Mean ur engine is running at a rpm higher than what it is design for. Overloading it too much...increases the chances of it not running according to specification like (1000000001 senarios)

U still running in car so fast wanna go redliner liao ar???

This is how it works. Steptronic can be use even when your car is moving. Your manual speed will depend on the current auto speed you are at now when you switch over. When brakes is applied, gear is automatically shift down or you can shift down "-" manually yourself.

Your hubby frighten the fuel guage lol! that's why now heywire. Joking jocolor Our car is link electronically to a system that produce this readings and they are very sensitive. Everything should go back to normal when the system do a recalculation. Should you still encountered this problem, do highlighted when doing your servicing.

Maybe the capacitor in the fuel tank was disrubted when he brake n the petrol level went dancing up n down Smile See if this keep happening loh, can tell the workshop next time round.

It may also show the capacitor is SUPER SENSITIVE wor!! lol! lol!

Imho, if the gear lever is connected to the gearbox mechanically then got chance gearbox uplorry fast. But the faster way to uplorry gearbox is to shift to neutral whenever you stop for a short while eg, redlight..

Post by dandeana21 14th April 2009, 1:47 am

the oni reason i can tink of izzit becoz ppl hv the tendency to shift the gear up to reverse mode and end up banging the car at the back? I think it has got to do wif getting used to the gear shifts bah.. And dat happened to many drivers many years back when auto-cars were first brought into SG. But I suppose drivers now shld be quite used to the gear shifts liao bah... besides i remember my driving instructor told me to shift the gear to neutral as much as possible @ traffic light stops wor... so i guess tt the gearbox won't get damaged so easily when we shift our gears to neutral that often?

juz some tots... Oh yah.. never shift it to "P" mode.. otherwise the chance of ramming behind is higher.. Razz

a fren of my told me not to shift e gear to neutral if e car is not fully stop. according to him its juz not good for e gear box. dat goes e same when u doing reversing to park ur car. u definitely in out in out b4 u finally park ur car. make sure ur car fully stop b4 u engage from D to R.

Putting to neutral actually wouldn't harm your auto tranny but must be at complete stop....but in our local driving condition, not really necessary, just step on brake....Same for engaging to reverse, ensure complete stop before going to R.
